Radovan Somik has arrived in Malmö

Somik likes to play hard, and make room for his teammates. And he can also see the advantage of playing qualification-games with Malmö Redhawks.

(Intervju på svenska här)

Radovan Somik had been on Swedish grounds for about two hours, before meeting me at Isstadion. He was a mighty sight, very tall and looking quite mean. But he seems really nice though.

What do you know about Malmö and Redhawks?
- Not much! I have read some on the Internet. I have only been in Sweden once before, during the World Championships in Gothenburg.

You belong to the Philadeplphia Flyers, which means you're teammate with Kim Johnsson. Hasn't he told you anything about his first club?
- No, not really. I haven't spoken with him yet, but I'll call him as soon as I can.

What do you think about him not playing for his first club during the lockout?
- Well, I know he's hurt and that he wants to rest. But it's a great loss for the team, he's a good player.

You're aware of the situation, that the team might have to play qualification-games to manage to maintain in the top division. How do you feel about that?
- Yes, I am aware about that. There are gonna be tough games. And to play tough and tight games is a great experience for any player. And I think it's going to be good for the future.

What do you expect from yourself during the time in Malmö Redhawks?
- I'm gonna try to do my best in every game, and I hope I'll help the team. I'm very excited, so we'll see!

What should the crowd i Malmö expect from Radovan Somik, what is your game like?
- Well, I think it's up to others to say...

...I've heard that you're tough but still able to score.
- Well, yeah, I try to play hard and I like to play for the other guys.

It seems like it's a true teamplayer that has come to Redhawks. Tomorrow, Timo Hirvonen comes to Malmö, and then we'll take his pulse. On Thursday, you'll see both Radovan Somik and Timo Hirvonen on the Redhawks squad, when we take on Linköping at home at Isstadion.
