Redhawks league leaders
A safe away win against IFK Arboga coinciding with Skellefteå only managing a draw at Oscarshamn saw Malmö retake pole position in the race to the "Kvalserien" Malmö have two games less played that the team from Västerbottningarna.
The match in Arboga was a whole different experience. Leading by 2-0 after just 1.23 of the match palyed is the dictionary definition of a dream start.
Dreamstart for Malmö Malmö made a great start to the game. 1-0 through Frylen after 39 seconds, Robert Tomik doubled the lead after 1.23. -"We started well" was "Ostens" comment. -"Goalkeeper Bohman had a start almost as bad in Malmö. I wanted some pay back for that, but it wasnt to be" said Arboga coach Ulf Weinstock who managed to keep a smile on his face despite the frustration. He went on to say "0-2 after 1.23. It was too tough for us. We needed Malmös start, maybe needed 3-0 instead."
Robert Tomik scored his second goal after 14.57 and sent Malmö into the first break 3-0 up. There was only one team on the ice.
Arboga Comeback Redhawks fell into the trap that they sometimes do when playing against teams that were playing poorly they hibernated a little. They stopped skating and the penalties started to bite . Arboga made it 3-1 and it could have been more
Arboga came back in the second. They put us under pressure and won some of the battles for the puck. We stopped skating and became passive and at the same time. "Arboga did well. Had they made it 3-2 it would have been a match, and they had the chances", said "Osten" of Arbogas efforts
Semjonov sealed the deal Alexander Semjonov put a stop to his former employers dominance by scoring to make it 4-1. Jan Öberg made it 5-1 before the end of the period. "Semjonovs goal lifted us and we had a strong end to the period" concluded "Osten"
An entertaining match It seemed the game was already decided. Redhawks made the most of the result and Arboga needed to work on the numbers. The final score 3-7 and Malmö cashed in three more points which confirmed their status as league leaders. "But it is certain that the crowd were at a game with great entertainment, its a really good group of hockey players that put together great combinations. Three nice goals chalked up. All we can do is congratulate Malmö who were a couple of classes better than us, hopefully they will go a long way" salutes Weinstock
Öberg on the front foot Christopher Nihlstorp got confidence between the posts for the first time this season "He had a good match" was "Ostens" judgement afterwards. Two other young players were rested in the third period Patrik Hersley and Carl Söderberg, "They looked a bit tired."
"I am glad to see Jan Öberg. He is reliable in defence but lately he has shown an ability to attack. I give him a plus for his extra effort today" said "Osten"
Arboga took out their goalkeeper at 2-7 Remarkably Weinstock took out his goalkeeper with less that 2 minutes on the clock and the scoreline reading 2-7. A numerical advantage after Björk was sent off and Arboga played six on three. It seemed worthwhile after they scored a third to make it 3-7. "It was important for us to get that last goal. There were positive things for us" mentioned Weinstock
Redhawks are league leaders and Skellefteå are coming to town next week. But now we must focus on a trip to AIK on Sunday.
